Neutral Milk Hotel - Holland 1945
Neutral Milk Hotel was an American indie rock band formed by singer, guitarist and songwriter Jeff Mangum in the early 1990s. The band was noted for its experimental sound, obscure lyrics, and eclectic instrumentation.[1]
The first release under the Neutral Milk Hotel moniker was the 1994 EP Everything Is, a short collection of tracks featuring Mangum. On the band's full-length debut album On Avery Island, which followed shortly thereafter, Mangum was joined by childhood friend and Apples in Stereo frontman Robert Schneider, who contributed production and instrumentation. Upon the album's release, the full band was formed and extensive touring began.
Neutral Milk Hotel released In the Aeroplane over the Sea in 1998, which became their most well-known and critically acclaimed album.[2] Although the album did not meet commercial success at the time of release, it has gone on to sell over 300,000 copies and is often ranked as one of the greatest albums of its time.[3] Despite growing popularity, the group disbanded in 1999 after Mangum became disenchanted with touring and the music press, later having a nervous breakdown.[4]

D. Boon and Mike Watt began playing music when they were teenagers in the mid-'70s, covering '70s hard rock standards. After they graduated from high school in 1976, they heard their first punk rock records, which marked a significant change in their musical development. Once Boon and Watt heard punk, they began writing their own songs and decided to form their first full-fledged rock & roll band. In 1980, the pair assembled a quartet called the Reactionaries, which featured drummer Frank Tonche and a second guitarist. Within a few months, their second guitarist left and the band changed their name to the Minutemen, since most of their songs were not much longer than a minute in duration. They recorded one single with Tonche before he was replaced by George Hurley.

Darius Rucker - Come Back Song

Josh Turner - All Over Me
Josh Turner's 2004 breakthrough hit, "Long Black Train," reminded country fans how rare and celebrated such thrilling, deep-baritone voices have been throughout the genre's history. And while Turner is a worthy heir to such barrel-chested baritones as Don Williams, Randy Travis and Trace Adkins, his fourth album, "Haywire," is a study in inconsistent use of his vocal gift. On the single "Why Don't We Just Dance," Turner avoids oversinging, instead letting his voice communicate through the song's message, resulting in one of the album's best tracks. Conversely, on the remake of Williams' 1987 hit ballad "I Wouldn't Be a Man," Turner overuses his low register, when a more restrained approach would've improved the take. Meanwhile, trite and sometimes awkward lyrics diminish some tracks that contain great instrumentals. But the album's finest moment is the choir-backed spiritual "The Answer," where Turner sings, "If you're lookin' for somebody you can talk to/When the heartache and the troubles overcome you/There's a man you can count on."-Wade Jessen.

Darius Rucker reaches milestone
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Darius Rucker has spent the last few years reinventing himself as a country star. He's had a platinum debut, No. 1 hits and his follow-up, "Charleston, SC 1966," debuted this week with high expectations.
Rucker hasn't forgotten what made him one of music's most bankable voices, though. You know, a certain laid-back rock band that turned out to be the melodic antidote to grunge and one of the biggest acts of the 1990s.
Hootie & the Blowfish celebrates its 25th anniversary this year, and Rucker says the band will record another album and tour at some point.
"This country thing is what I'm doing," Rucker said. "This is my career change. This is what I'm doing 'til I retire. But I know for a fact that — I don't want to put a time on it — but soon there's going to be another Hootie record, another Hootie tour because I love the guys and I think we will always be a band."

Guns N' Roses play to school gig
Band members of Axl's new Guns N' Roses line-up have played a special surprise gig for lucky students in Oxford.
Guitarist Ron "Bumblefoot" Thai and drummer Frank Ferrer wowed the young fans at the Witchwood School Of Rock to offer advice to budding rock stars and played several numbers.
"I'm actually more nervous going and talking to the kids than I am playing in front of 20,000 people," Ferrer told the BBC, "because you don't see them. Here you're going to see every little kid's face."
The visit was organised by the centre's Mike Dove, who claimed: "They had coffee in my house this morning so it's a bit crazy. I've realised a bit of a boyhood dream."
