Good Cover / Bad Cover
We love cover songs, most know that. Also, I generally think there is just not enough negativity in the blogosphere anymore. I mean, where did all the a-holes go?! It's all gone soft and fuzzy. So, we're gonna start a feature where we share a bad cover song each week. To keep things fair and balanced, and still a little warm and feel-good, we'll feature a good cover along with it.

Good Cover : Computer Blue
Of Montreal’s take on Prince's classic Computer Blue from SPIN Magazine's Purplish Rain cover compilation. This year marks the 25th anniversary of Purple Rain's release. Those of you that have been reading a long time might be familiar with my older brother, Chris, who passed away a few years ago. One of my best memories is listening to this album and watching this terrible movie over and over with him. Of Montreal definitely do the song justice...

Bad Cover : Day 'n' Nite
Kid Cudi's Day 'n' Nite has sold over one million downloads in the US alone since its release in February. Australian female-fronted "dirty pop" band CHAINGANG (that's right, yell it!) is now stepping up to give it a try. Apparently while recording their debut EP in Nashville, the band decided to bang out a live studio demo for their MySpace page "amidst jetlagged delirium at 3am." Maybe not such a good idea. It is unlikely that this version would've sold twelve downloads.
