I feel like every picture or video I ever see from Forecastle it looks like they are struggling to bring in 200 people per show. How is this thing surviving money wise?
Not having been able to make many Forecastles in the past, I can't really speak to it...it maybe the case...i've only heard that crowds are never that thick...which is sad for Louisville, if they aren't supporting this Fest...it's a great thing and the best the city is ever going to get. They should embrace it. The Forecastle folks are masters of bringing in sponsorship too...which always helps counter poor turnout. What I will say it that for the headliners, the place filled up much more. At such a low overall ticket price, you could pay what you'd normally pay to see one of the headliners, at a normal club show, and still go all day for all the other bands...it was a pretty amazing bargin. Also...this vid was at the peak of the heat and humidity on Saturday. People started showing up as it cooled down.
Have any of you heard about the Patron Music in Motion Tour? It’s an amazing program that’s raising money for music education programs and rebuilding homes in New Orleans. A friend of mine told me that people won an all expense paid trip to Lollapalooza and they’re sending people to the Virgin Mobile Music Festival and you can even win tickets to the VMAS!
