Gary Louris : She Only Calls Me On Sunday (MOKB Exclusive)

We're big Gary Louris fans here at MOKB and welcome any opportunity to chat with the man about his next musical endeavor. Vagabonds, his outstanding solo debut, has been flying just under the radar, but it's been in heavy rotation in my home and office since its mid-February release. I've been a big fan since The Jayhawks' Blue Earth record, and still it never ceases to amaze me how Gary makes writing and performing music seem like the easiest thing in the world. Needless to say, when the suits at Rykodisc called to offer an exclusive video performance of She Only Calls Me On Sunday, we were more than happy to take it off their hands.



This performance was filmed at Minnesota Public Radio's 89.3, The Current and finds Gary performing with longtime friend and collaborator, Jim Boquist. Boquist, best known for his tenure in Son Volt, is a local music mainstay and has most recently toured with Twin City favorite son, Paul Westerberg. I had an opportunity to hang out a little with Jim following a recent performance and he is truly one of the nicest guys I've ever met. If you're looking for an ace sideman with a killer vocabulary, Jim is your guy. Anyway, enjoy She Only Calls Me On Sunday; it's my favorite track on Vagabonds.
