Alela Diane : Live on MOKB SIRIUS Blog Radio, Left Of Center, Channel 26

I was pretty excited that Alela Diane agreed to come in and record an MOKB SIRIUS Blog Radio/91.7 WEEM session with us, but up until I actually got her in the studio, it felt like it was doomed to fail. Alela had to cancel her show her in Indianapolis, so she played Chicago instead and then headed down towards us for a show in Bloomington. A push to the next day, but all was still falling into place. Then there was a forgotten time change and a two hour delay and an irritated lady at home with a baby and an over-worked show producer. All was pointing to a cancellation or something worse. Well, as soon as she walked in, played and sang the first note, all was washed away. Her warm tones made us all forget about the cold snap in the air and any stress we might have been feeling. It was as close to the feeling a child must have, if I could remember the feeling, when a mother sings soothing songs at night.

We talked about Alela's upcoming titled-and-now-untitled record, the inclusion of more instrumentation, her move back home from Portland to her native Nevada City, California, her family and much more. A more lovely artist has yet to enter our studios. If you don't own her music, you should buy it.
