Regina Spektor : Murat Egyptian Room 10.02.07
MJ and I went to see Regina Spektor last night at the Murat Egyptian Room. Wow, she is great. I missed her at ACL this year, but since I didn't know what I was missing, I think I liked her best in the dark venue environment. She made a big room feel very, very intimate. Her voice is as lovely as she is. She is humorous, coy, humble and instantly likable on stage. Deftly and naturally, she created her own percussion section at times with her mouth, feet and once a drumstick on her piano stool.
Begin To Hope has definitely taken her to that next level as an artist, and I'll be excited to hear her next effort.
Only Son opened. He was a bit of a snooze, but he came back on during the encore to beat-box Regina's song Hotel Song. That was pretty great and the crowd ate it up.
Here is her new video for Better...

1 Talk back to yo' mama!:
The version of the song in the video is different that what's on the album. It's a little closer to what I've heard live.
