La Laque

Due to obligations beyond my control, I won’t be at the CMJ Music Marathon this weekend. However, if in a fit of lucidity, I were to quit my job, I would celebrate with a plane ticket to NYC, a martini the size of a birdbath and the La Laque show October 18th at the NYU Kimmel Center.

La Laque is just the latest sparkling band to emerge from Brooklyn. With breathy French vocals decanted over dark, driving music, La Laque is too sexy for twee and too noisy for pop. I don't know if you can call them influences, but you're likely to hear touches of Blonde Redhead, Interpol, Jane Birkin, Brigitte Bardot and Sonic Youth. Currently, La Laque has only their self-titled EP to peddle, but I suspect a full-length release is on the way. I also suspect it will sync up nicely with Breathless.
