Stars : In Our Bedroom After the War

In an attempt to prevent widespread Internet leaks, Stars are back with a follow-up to their stellar Set Yourself on Fire – two months before its scheduled release date! What?! You thought their new album wasn’t coming out until September?! And you’ve been counting down the days until its release?! Well, you don’t have to wait any longer. It became available for download from the Arts & Crafts website just four days after its completion. It's also available on iTunes. Its official release date is still slated for Sept. 25.
In Our Bedroom After the War – their fourth full-length studio album – sees Stars confronting their usual themes of love lost and love won. They do it so well, making even the songs about heartbreak and loss sound so sweet and airy that you almost forget they’re describing how it feels to have your heart ripped out and stomped to bits. In Personal, they actually narrate the awkward communication between a man and woman who meet through a personal ad but never end up meeting in person. He sees her photo. She’s too heavy for his liking. He stands her up. Ouch.
Not in the mood to hear your latest Match.com foray described in its entirety? They still have occasion to rock out with tunes like Bitches in Tokyo and Take Me to the Riot. And if you believe in a crazy little thing called love, My Favourite Book reminds us all that there just might be a light at the end of that very dark tunnel of love.

5 Talk back to yo' mama!:
"My Favorite Book" is the jam, as is "The Ghost of Genova Heights." They sound great when they get all soulful on us.
man...this album is a big let down...remember "Heart"????
Love "The Ghost of Genova Heights." It has 80s Phil Collins feel about with a sprinkle of Michael Jackson before he was creepy.
not as good as set yourself on fire, but still a good album. And a hooligan lovesong...
I think you're reading "heavy" too literally. I believe it is also meant to mean emotional baggage, not simply body weight.
