Guilt By Association Compilation : Petra Haden Does Journey
You may have heard about the Engine Room Recordings compilation project called Guilt By Association. If not, here's the scoop... Your favorite "indie music superstars" are covering some of the best (or worst) Top 40 pop gems that they could think of...Artists like Mariah Carey, Journey, Paula Abdul, The Spice Girls and Shania Twain, just to name a few, will all be given the "indie" treatment.
Engine Room also held a video contest for some of the songs on the compilation. The label accepted video ideas for one of three tracks from Guilt by Association. The tracks are Will Oldham's cover of Mariah Carey's Can't Take That Away, Devendra Banhart's cover of Oasis' Don't Look Back in Anger, or Petra Haden's cover of Journey's Don't Stop Believing. The videos haven't been released yet, but the compilation will be released September 4th.
This is only fitting as Journey is MJ's most guilty pleasure. This one's for you Mama...
