Petticoat, Petticoat : Live On MOKB SIRIUS Blog Radio, Left Of Center, Channel 26

We were also lucky enough to be graced by the lovely Kristin Messina and some guy named Dickie Haydon, who claims to be her fiancee (ok fine, he actually is), in the MOKB SIRIUS Blog Radio/91.7 WEEM studios this week. They were joined by Jackson Silvanik, their bassist, and formed the mighty Petticoat, Petticoat. The band played some great songs for us and were full of energy and laughs. It was a lot of fun getting to know them. Unfortunately, their show at The Irving Theater was cancelled, without notice, that evening. Good news on The Irving Theater front though, there are some exciting changes blowing in the wind. More to come on that another time.

Cancelling that show made me suicidal.

At 1:49 AM, Blogger ethan embers spat...

that girl is gorgeous. the band is ok too.

At 7:18 AM, Anonymous Michael Quirk spat...

I can't stand Petticoat Petticoat; in fact, I have a strong desire to actively suppress their music. They are like the contemporary mellow, cheesy equivalent of Bread or the Carpenters or fucking Peaches and Herb, Captain and Teneal--except all those bands sold records, which Petticoat Petticoat won't do.

At 3:08 PM, Anonymous Anonymous spat...

Yeah, I mean, she's sexy, but dumb. I hate the poses and facial expressions she is making to the camera. She's just TOO pretty to be in a band, and like the guy above me said; they're too mediocre, just another vanilla/bland band.

At 3:11 PM, Anonymous Anonymous spat...

^^^ To clarify on what I said, I'm talking about the pictures on their website. They should just skip getting covered on indie blogs and go straight to signing with some big ass label, then they'll at least be played where they belong; Adult alternative radio stations.

At 9:22 AM, Anonymous Andrew spat...

She is hot, there's no denying that.

At 6:12 PM, Anonymous Anonymous spat...

Michael Quirk, suck my fat ass cock. You are a fucking idiot.

At 8:35 AM, Blogger Dodge spat...

whoa! whoa! keep it clean, keep it clean! who's Mike Quirk anyway?!

At 3:51 PM, Anonymous Corey spat...

I've seen Petticoat multiple times and own their record, both are decisions which I do not regret whatsoever. I'm sure they would take a Bread comparison any day...what do you guys do? Sit around jerking off to Bloc Party? Better to write music that has actual substance and feeling than to just be another sign of the times.

At 7:37 AM, Anonymous Michael Quirk spat...

Actually, I'm in the process of getting my phD in English literature. I spend my time writing articles of literary criticism and a dissertation about Hart Crane and modern American poetry. The first album I bought was firehose's "Ragin Full On" in 1986, when you all were probably still in diapers. I've been listening to indie rock ever since--those are my qualifications to be able to see that Petticoat Petticoat is a joke. But you don't need qualifications to see that, just common sense. And at least I have the courage to put my real name next to any statements I make. And Dodge...who am I? How could such a question come from a blogger? Who are you? Just some guy with no particular qualifications that went to blogspot to force his (sometimes questionable)musical tastes on the rest of the world. Give me a break--you, of all people, ask who I am? Bloggers...

At 11:26 AM, Blogger Dodge spat...

hahaha...what an ego. sorry, i don't keep up with the self-righteous. I don't force anything on anyone...I didn't make you come to mokb, but thanks for stopping by and proving the Anon at 3:12 correct.

Writers...

At 1:29 PM, Blogger Dodge spat...

anyway, I didn't see/read your previous comment. so I didn't see who/what that commenter was referencing. that's why I wrote that...not to take a shot at you Mike...but seriously, deflate.

At 1:36 AM, Anonymous Megan spat...

I own their album but they are quite awful live. It's pretty disappointing. Stick to being studio artists, guys.
