The Decemberists, David Vandervelde & Josh Rouse

It was a good weekend and today is a good day. Caught The Decemberists in Louisville on Friday. Very fun and interesting show. It was all ages, so it was a big crowd. Much larger show than when I saw them in Louisville in 2005. Less intimate, but still enjoyable. They basically played through The Crane Wife, mixing in a few cuts from the earlier works. I wasn't a fan of The Crane Wife initially, but seeing the songs live, it really gave me a new perspective. I listened to the album on the way back to Indianapolis the next day and really enjoyed them more this time around. It's no radio hit, but I listened to Shankill Butchers probably twelve times.

A great friend of mine was married on Saturday. It was a crazy day. Snow and sleet here in Indianapolis in mid-April. Not ideal, but the wedding went off without a hitch and everyone had a great time. Congratulations to Chris and Alicia and good luck going forward!

Sunday was awesome as David Vandervelde and his "Power Trio" (two members of The Moon Station House Band) dropped by the 91.7 WEEM/MOKB SIRIUS Blog Radio studios.
