Mixel Pixel : Music For Plants
When you want to shake your groove thang, and you know I do, this Brooklyn electro-pop foursome is just what the doctor ordered. Mixel Pixel have recently released their fourth full-length album entitled Music For Plants. Mixel Pixel brings boy/girl vocals with lyrics mainly all about partying, relationships and drugs. You can hear the DJ give a little more history about Contact Kid aka Rob Corradetti, who created Mixel Pixel, at the end of this Streetlab remix. Matty Kaukeinen, Kaia Wong and Matt Snee make up the rest of the group. Corradetti & Wong also make up the band Eastern Stars who have been talked about at MOKB as well.

Man, I love this song. I first heard it when I saw Menace II Society back in the early nineties. It opens the movie and just filled me with tension and anticipation. The movie was ok, but forgettable. The opening song, obviously not. Recently it was used in the LeBrons commercial series which brought back the memory. Man, Kool & The Gang created so many excellent songs throughout their career...

If you recall Menace II Society begins with an aerial wide shot of Watts as Ice Cube's "Ghetto Bird" is spinning.2nd song is Kool and The Gang.I dig the song too, it doesn't hurt the Fresh Prince keeps it alive with Summa Summa Summa Time. Not trying to step on your shoes.Thanks for the awesome posts.

yo mixel pixel is one of those truly HORRIBLE bands that i can never figure out why they're getting so much attention. major shoegaze yuck. live show = terrible. sorry dudes but i tells 'em like i hears 'em.
