MOKB Covers Project Revisited
It's been quite a while since the MOKB Covers Project and I've had lots of people send me tracks that were missed. I don't have them all, my inbox gets filled up pretty fast, but here are a few I managed to salvage...

Susana and the Magic Orchestra - Hallelujah (Leonard Cohen)
Susana and the Magic Orchestra - Enjoy The Silence (Depeche Mode)
Die Art - Love Will Tear Us Apart (Joy Division)
Ali Von Monaco - 08 - Where Is My Mind (Pixies)
Bette Bright - When You Were Mine (Prince)
John Bloodworth - In The Aeroplane Over The Sea (Neutral Milk Hotel)
Dee Adams - I'll Keep It With Mine (Bob Dylan)
Bonus: Weeds, as I have said, is one of my favorite shows and the covers of Malvina Reynold's Little Boxes each episode have been a real treat. I'd love to get them all if anyone has them. I'll post them if you can send me any other versions you might have.Elvis Costello - Little Boxes (Malvina Reynolds)
Death Cab For Cutie - Little Boxes (Malvina Reynolds mp4) - Can anyone convert this to mp3? I'll re-up if so.
DCFC - Little Boxes (mp3)
Also: Ben Folds covers Postal Service's Such Great Heights. (via Noise For Toaster)Ben Folds - Such Great Heights (Postal Service)
I wouldn't mind doing it again at some point in the future, so if you have any great ideas of songs to cover or great collections you'd like to share, get in touch with me via email... dodge77(at)gmail(dot)com

Ben Folds - Such Great Heights

Keep it up..

Oasis' Wonderwall has been covered a lot and might be a good one. Off the top of my head Ryan Adams, Cat Power, Mike Flowers Pops (remember that?!?)...
converting m4a - mp3...
if you are an itunes user, make sure that the setting (in preferences) you use to rip cds is mp3 (not aac), highlight the track in question, click 'advanced' tab and select 'convert selection to mp3', give it about 30 seconds and you will have your original file and the mp3 version.
A character in Zadie Smith's On Beauty describes Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah as a "hymn deconstructing a hymn."
I love this list! I'm a little obsessive about cover versions and there are so many great additions to my collection here.
I don't know if you take suggestions for entirely new songs but if I may I'd love to suggest Tim Hardin's "If I Were A Carpenter." It's one of the most covered songs I can think of.
A quick search on iTunes turns up no less than 35 versions by an amazingly eclectic array of artists including Robert Plant, Johnny Cash & June Carter, the Small Faces, the Four Tops, Joel Gray, Joan Baez, John Holt, Randy Newman, Dolly Parton (who's version is actually mentioned elsewhere on your blog), Ramblin' Jack Elliott and Bobby Darin, who had a considerable hit with his version.
But be sure not to miss the original by Hardin himself. It's breathtaking and answers any questions as to why so many people would cover this song.
