MOKB Covers Project Redux : Wonderwall
Manchester, England band Oasis have made headlines for years by making solid, tradional guitar-driven Brit rock/pop. They might be second only to the Beatles in terms of British band popularity. They hit worldwide stardom in the early 1990s with their album (What's the Story) Morning Glory?, but their arrogance and infamous behavior on and off stage kept them in the news in the U.S. far longer and more often, it seemed, than their music after this album. The album spawned two hit singles in Wonderwall, and Don't Look Back in Anger which reached number 2 and 1 respectively. Wonderwall was brought back to mainstream fame most recently by Ryan Adams and was featured on the hit FOX show The O.C.
As mentioned, Brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher are famous for their very public warring and catty behaivor towards one another and others. Subsequently, the band has undergone several lineup changes since its inception, and the the brothers are the only original members of the very first Oasis lineup.
Oasis' second album, (What's the Story) Morning Glory? was the second-fastest selling album of all-time in the UK at the time of it's release and has sold over 19 million records to date. If you're looking for a complete list of Wonderwall covers, then you should include matt pond pa's uninteresting one.
hey sean, i had it banked, along with a couple others, but then you asked for it and someone else emailed about it, so i just figured we'd go ahead and start it up again.
this covers project can't be as impressive as the last one, but I'll try and get some good ones up
Wait... why do you have Aggro1's mashup - a good mashup, but neither the best Wonderwall mashup nor the best Aggro1 tune - but you don't have the mashup on there? I refer, of course, to Boulevard of Broken Songs, one of the best mashups of any songs, not just of Wonderwall. It's by PartyBen - go get it and put it up. And while you're there, some other recommendations include:
* DJ Panic - Wonder Korn
* DJ Crookair - Wonderwall Dreams
* Jimmi Jammes - Wonder Bop
If you want any of those and can't find them on the internet, feel free to ask me.
Also, a note that mashup producers generally like to be given credit for their work - say, for instance, Aggro1. :p
Finally, I've also got a decent cover by the Mike Flowers Pops - feel free to ask me for that, too, if you'd like. I've also got a cover by my own a cappella group, but it really isn't a decent enough recording that I'd feel like having it spread over the greater internet ;).
Uh oh, no Mike Flowers Pops? Did you intentionally omit? That one, I think, was the first Wonderwall cover, and maybe the best.

Melissa Rebronja does a beautiful version of Wonderwall on her 2003 album Embrace Yourself. I have it, but it's a protected iTunes file. Maybe someone else has it?

My favorite cover of Wonderwall was done by Dave Grohl, on Howard Stern. He puts Ryan Adams to shame, and I am a Ryan Adams fan.
so i can't get the ryan adams one to work... but this is a sweet idea/awesome post. i've been in love with the cat power one for a while now.
Go Home Productions also made a mash up with Oasis' Wonderwall, put together with Marvin Gaye back in 2002. I think it's pretty nice.

there is a live cover of wonderwall by Michelle Branch/The Wreckers available. i can see about uploading if anyone is interested.

Prior to the release of those two singles in the UK, (WTS)MG? gave Oasis their first number 1 single with 'Some Might Say', which was followed by 'Roll With It' reaching number 2 in the infamous chart battle with Blur.
