Jamie T

I've been listening to a lot of Jamie T since he was recommended by my girl DJ Spy. I haven't really got waaay into him, but this song is really fun and I just keep listening to it (lyrics). I honestly can't listen to English rappers or grime (Mike Skinner/Dizzee Rascal) or Arctic Monkeys and all things of the like for long periods of time. Most recently Lily Allen probably has had the most staying power with me. It's all great in small doses or in a bar, but whole albums leave me irritable.

If I had to pick another track right now, it'd be this one (Salvador). He's been compared to Arctic Monkeys, but I think The Streets (for obvious genre reasons) is a better point of comparison. The one thing I like, so far, about Jamie T (from these early, limited experiences) is like Skinner, there is some depth to him and his lyrics. It's not the enormous cleverness and wit that Skinner has, but it's not fluff either - lots of social commentary. His sample use, beats and experimentation get praise as well. Some other stand out tracks I've checked are Back In The Game and Alicia Keys.

Hey that's pretty good. The Streets comparison makes sense. I like the restrained use of samples.
