Tel Aviv

No, Tel Aviv is not from the Middle East. Actually they are a band from Little Rock, Arkansas. Macktronic introduced me to them and I thank him for it. Their music is based in punk and krautrock, but with Nirvana/Strokes/Hives/Vines-like (put 'em in a blender) vocals over the dark, heavy, pulsing keyboards.
The jangling guitar work in Sunburned LA and Black Marketeering is very Tapes 'n Tapes like as well. Which, I'm sure it totally unrelated and unintentional, but it's still cool. The band lists it's influences as TV On The Radio, Deerhoof, Can and Underworld. Tel Aviv's MySpace. I'm highly recommending Black Marketeering, but many other critics have recommended About Hysteria as their best work. It is pretty awesome too.
