Regina Spektor - Begin To Hope : Side 1

The classically trained and influenced Regina Spektor made a decent sized splash when she released Soviet Kitsch a couple years ago. She's back this June with a smaller effort, but it is no less impressive. Six songs called Begin To Hope : Side 1. Stand out tracks, for me, are Fidelity, On The Radio and Hotel Song - all fairly upbeat efforts. Regina Spektor's MySpace.
She writes, "Once upon a time people made records. Side 1 would spin around and around. Just a few songs, but many thoughts and feelings. I made a little record called Begin To Hope. It comes out June 13th, 2006. That's soon. This is my Side 1. Happily ever after." - Regina

6 Talk back to yo' mama!:
The vocals are great. Right up front, little-to-no reverb...thanks for turning us onto this...
I really liked Soviet K., but then I got a copy of live at Bull Moose the other day and wasnt that impressed. There was also a cd before Soviet K, but cant remember the title.
Did anyone one else hear the live cd???
Like this, but you really should look swedish Jenny Wilson up, if you like this.
She's a better producer. Less Edie Brickell-ish...
Ummm I don't know if it's just gonna be 6 songs, but I've got a full 12 song album by Regina Spektor otherwise known as "Begin to Hope" and this is the first time I've heard of a "Side 1" of 6 songs. I mean 3 are already available for download on iTunes anyways.
The 12 song full length is good though...really good.
Regina is fantastic... I love the new album (I also think that it is a full-length 12-track album entitled "Begin to Hope")... And, prior to Soviet Kitsch, there were two albums, namely "11:11" and "Songs" (although you can only download one of them from iTunes now, the other can still be bought)...
The live EP isn't that good, I agree. But I've made up two compilations of other live versions of unreleased tracks that I've found over the net (mainly on reginaspektor.net), so I listen to those instead... And, if you're interested, there's a load of demo tracks lying around too (I have 11 that aren't on any other albums)...
