Race Day
Yesterday was a long day, MJ and I had new carpet installed in the upstairs rooms of our house, so we spent most of the morning moving furniture from one room to the next so the installers could rip up the old carpet and lay the new carpet...it was like moving, but not going anywhere. The joys of home improvement/ownership.

We went to see X3: The Last Stand afterwards...very disappointing. Some things were handled well for the movie format, but overall the plot was weak and new character development was shabby. Lots of blowing shiz up, but no suspense and little emotional connection. All style, no substance. I'd wait for DVD if you haven't seen it all ready.
Today is the Indianapolis 500 and I'm picking pole sitter Sam Hornish Jr. to win. The guy is the epitomy of bad luck. He leads the majority of the race and then he or his car takes a poop. Not this year, or at least for his sake, I hope not. We're having a couple folks over to barbeque, but ridiculous Indianapolis TV rules don't allow viewing of the race until way later the night of the race. Redonkulous.
Instead of adding to the previous Carb Day post, I'm just going to add the songs sent in here. Thanks to Audrey and B.Chap for sending in some good ones.
Sugarbabes - I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor (Arctic Monkeys Cover)
TV On The Radio - Modern Romance (Yeah Yeah Yeahs Cover)

11 Talk back to yo' mama!:
Sad news about X3 it was a great series looks like Fox along with Rattner (sp?) fucked this one up. Should have let Singer finish X3 and do Superman. Classic FOX to go money over substance. Its what they do best.
I think that "So Broken" might not be a Nine Inch Nails cover. You might wanna double-check that. NIN had an ep called "Broken", but no songs on it by that name.
I could be wrong ; )
"So Broken" is definitely not a Nine Inch Nails cover. It was written and recorded by Bjork as part of the "Homogenic" sessions, and featured what she called "the world's greatest flamenco guitar palyer". I have the original single it comes from, and it's credited to her for lyrics. Just so's you know.
ok we got that straight. thank god i don't have to go the rest of my life thinking that bjork song is actually a nine inch nails song. whew! now i won't sound like an idiot when i'm talking about bjork and nine inch nails to all the numbnuts at all the geek-loser parties i will undoubtedly attend for the rest of my existence. argh! i'm so bored. talk about something good. go buy a stooges record, get wasted and shut the hell up. jesus, how much about bjork do we need to know. trent reznor is an overrated, bloated jackass. am i overreacting?
Hey Dodge-
Thanks for the good word. I'm glad you liked the "Indie Goes Acoustic" thing I did.
I've been a fan of MOKB for a long time. You're on fire right now.
Keep up the good work.
See ya!
Derek
i really like sugababes cover of the Arctic Monkeys.
y'know what sucked the most about x3? it wasn't a horrible movie, it was just a generic action film with excellent FX but then when Juggernaut comes on they RUINED IT! He says, "You know who I am? I'm the Juggernaut, Bitch!" That's not the line! J's line is "nothing Can Stop the Juggernaut!" He's said it for decades. They had a great, witty line and then they go and screw it up with gratuitous profanity.
At that point, they lost me.
Ekko! so true...i turned to MJ and just was like, "did he just say that? that was the worst line ever!" i mean, how did that get through?
no colossus v. juggernaut matchup either?
The "bitch" line is a reference to a joke found on "teh internets" -

It isn't so much "fan service," as meme-jobbing.
The finish of the race couldn't have been any more dramtic and improbable. Marco taking his dad with less than five laps to go (Michael just didn't have enough car), and Sam using the draft to tak the lead coming out of the final turn . . . wow! When you think about the potential dangers of fuel spilling all over the car and pit during Sam's penultimate stop, it makes the win even more impressive. What a finish!
