Wilderness, War and Football

Archer Prewitt : WildernessI finally checked into Archer Prewitt's album Wilderness upon reccomendation from Ryan @ Muzzle Of Bees. It's great. I was able to download it on eMusic. You can check it out with the 50 free downloads eMusic offers just for signing up for a trial account. You can cancel quickly and easily with no catch after you've used them, but I've stayed on with the $19.99 a month plan and it is some of the best money I spend each month. Plus, the day my 90 monthly downloads re-ups is like Christmas.

Archer Prewitt - O, Ky
Archer Prewitt - Go Away

Other noteworthy listens:

Genna Giacobassi

Genna Giacobassi of Fiction Like Candy was mentioned during the MOKB contest of "Best Ladies of Indie Rock" so we've kept an eye on her. She does a good cover of Clap Your Hands Say Yeah's Details Of War.

NFL Draft Weekend:

NFL DraftNFL fans rejoice, it's draft weekend - a time when your team either geniuses up or boneheads down. The Colts need a running back, but will likely pass on LenDale White should he drop that far. D'Angelo Williams and Laurence Maroney likely will not drop that far. There is talk of moving Marlin Williams to safety, so Mike Doss could soon be on the move or entering his last year in Indy. The Colts could still use some help at corner if Marlin is moved. That will probably happen gradually if it happens at all.

Reggie Bush still goes number 1, but Jay Cutler is still wowing many "Draft Experts" and is more often being dubbed "the sure thing" of the three quarterbacks. There are plenty of no-brainers that will be successful, Mario Williams, D'Brickashaw Ferguson, AJ Hawk to name a few. I'm really interested in TE Vernon Davis, he's a physical freak of nature, so you gotta think he will be unbelievable, but he is actually quite shorter than a lot of the high-profile TE's drafted in recent years. I wish I could sit on the couch all weekend and waste it away in a drunken stupor yelling at the TV when teams pick stupidly, but alas...I'll be out of town and will likely miss the whole shabang this year. You got any draft thoughts or insight?

if the Vince Young somehow drops to the Lions, and they take him, I'm boycotting the season. or picking a new team.

and I'm convinced that if the Texans pass on Bush, they will be cursed forever and will end up firing the whole front office when he becomes the league's best RB.

Glad you got a chance to check out Archer Prewitt. Thanks for the love.

I am hoping beyond hope that the Titans do the right thing by picking Matt Leinart instead of picking the functionally retarded Vince Young. Oh yeah, I agree that the Texans front office should be fired if they pass on Bush. I look forward to him busting some Barry Sanders-esque moves for the next few years.

If you are looking for something really good on emusic, check out Entrance's "Wandering Stranger". Good stuff!

im hoping for big things from my Bengals, where they sit later in the first round Im hoping a good safety or TE is available...

i can't speak for dodge, but i get paid about 1 million dollars. so it's totally worth it.

I really like that cover of Details of the War - very pretty. I've not heard Fiction Like Candy before... I'd like to hear more of their stuff

I want to watch the draft but no cable. I'll just head down to the bar and watch it though. Bad thing is though that with the hockey playoffs up here in Canada we only get the first 3 hours.

As for the draft, real interesting this year, lots of unknown stuff which is weird. Will make it really fun to watch.

Just hope my Bills don't do anything stupid.

Hmmm...maybe the Colts should draft the reanimated corpse of Henry Heimlich? he might be able to help them with that choking problem.

(I totally stole that joke from somewhere else, but it still seems fitting.)

Williams is the smart move for the texans as they already have a running back. if wiliams pans out to be a 10 sack a year player he will be a sucess in my mind. Singing williams just F'd up thousands of mock drafts though
i say Niners will trade up and get him.
