New Lauryn Hill

Lauryn Hill was like a huge college crush for me until she said she didn't like white people. I was hurt, betrayed...devestated really. Our love was one that would never come to fruition. Sad days. Now she's gone all Earth Mother Brand Nubian on me and we really just aren't in the place...irreconcilable differences I guess. Wait, did I just make that whole relationship up in my head? Hmm...

Anyway, Lauryn is back and a song from her new yet-to-be-released album has leaked. I think this song leaked previously in a different form, but this has a new added rap section. It sure would be great of the Fugees got back together and made some music like they did back in the day.

Lauryn Hill - Rebel

lauryn talks to me every night. how great was that fugees album?!

if Lauryn Hill actually said she didn't like white people wouldn't there be a tape or something around to prove that.

Mtv even said that stupid comment wasn't true after the fact, but it was too late.

she unfortuantely will not go down in history as an incredible artist;she will go down in history as an incredible artist who hates white people.

which just isn't true.

I may be one of the few people who doesn't like Fugees or Lauryn Hill. (And I think that white people comment was made on Howard Stern ... something about how she'd rather let her children starve than feed them on the money of white people ... someone confirm this, please).

Anyway, I'm no fan. But that, obviously, doesn't make her any less talented.

haven't heard the rest of the album but the new Fugees radio single was just that, a radio single, and horrible. apparantly they're trying to appeal to the 50 Cent crowd? someone tell me the rest of the album is either more like their old stuff or at least a step in a better direction than the single indicated.

how wonderful and refreshing to click over here and see Lauryn lookin at me. Thanks for the variety!

Lauryn Hill, surely didn't see this one coming.
Hey dodge, how come my blog is not featured on the new mp3 blog hotness links, ain't I hot enough for you? just kidding.
Loved that "Cordero" post, oh and everybody calls my grandparent "don Julio", so I was happy to see that title on a song.

hey guys, i'm in chicago now, so i won't be making site changes, but Moka, I swore you were in old school mp3 hotness...i will fix that asap.

i haven't heard much from the Fugees since 'The Score', but I hardly think they will get it together to put out anything as good as it or 'Blunted On Reality'. Good to know that lauryn doesn't hate me, now i might leave mj and see if we can make it work for real this time.

Man she was my favorite artist in middle school (damn I am showing my age again). thanks for the track

oh and unrelated to my admiration of Lauren Hill I have that wicked game cover by giant drag.

Not to be a dork, but this was actually "leaked" on the UNplugged album in acoustic form. I don't know if it'll ever be released on an album. She felt it was too risky to release the original because of the Diallo situation.

I know too much.

At 8:13 PM, Anonymous Anonymous spat...

yea, I also fell in love with her in college. Alas, when I picked up that unplugged album a few years ago, i got sick to my stomach. She's all crazy lovin' Jesus these days.

I'm interested in hearing what this new album is going to sound like...

Lauryn Hill has never said she didn't like white people. That urban legend is right up there with Tommy Hilfiger saying he didn't want Asians and Blacks wearing his clothes on Oprah. Until I see either, I refuse to believe them.

Hopefully Lauryn's new material is fabulous.

At 11:43 PM, Blogger Angie K spat...

Yea, I'm a huge Lauryn Hill fan as well. If anyone has any of her new tracks or any tracks from the new Fugees album please let me know. If you do have any, let me know and we'll exchange email address.

Thanx.

hey y'all, this track is old. Just thought I'd let ya know. Its from her mtv unplugged album...

At 5:51 AM, Blogger Angie K spat...

yea but it has a different beat and a differnt sound to it.

At 9:52 PM, Anonymous Anonymous spat...

I like this polished version better than the acoustic version. Her voice sounds better on this version.

At 4:18 PM, Anonymous Anonymous spat...

NO, Lauryn Hill never did make that comment about white people, she addressed that rumor on an MTV special, the man who accused her of saying those things, was some Disc Jockey, I believe in Texas, who was upset that she cancelled out her interview with him, needless to say he was fired shortly after saying she made those comments.

At 6:21 AM, Anonymous Anonymous spat...

the quote i seen and heard on MTV is 'I'd rather have my children starve then white people stand in line for my concert'
