Goldspot - Tally of the Yes Men
My new blog girlfriend (like it or not!), Jax, sent me Goldspot's album Tally of the Yes Men and it is great. Goldspot is an L.A. band that endured the L.A. amature club scene for 5 years before the release of Tally of the Yes Men, which subsequently earned them regular rotation on KCRW DJ Nic Harcourt's show Morning Becomes Eclectic and some national pub. Singer Siddhartha "Sid" Khosla has a melodious honey-coated, emotive tenor that alone could carry this band, but he is backed by strong, yet understated, intrumentation that will hold up with the O.C. Soundtrack-style fans as well as hipster scrutiny.
For fans of Radiohead, The Smiths, Morrissey, the Cure and Roy Orbison.

Goldspot - The Guard
...a careful listen to the group's debut album reveals a band that has managed to find a sweet spot between indie aesthetics, soundtrack standouts, and commercial radio accessibility...Goldspot mirrors the melodies and instrumentation of the '80s post-punk, new wave, downbeat pop scene with a graceful ease....Goldspot has the potential to bridge both the adult contemporary radio world and the trend-watching indie scene without having to "sell out" or change their current formula. -popmatters.com

Silversun made my top 25 list as well. FANTASTIC band. they are in the studio right now writing a recording their full length.
I'm liking the Goldspot -- "It's Getting Old" most of all.
The best song on the album is "Friday". I also like "Rewind"
I have the The KEXP show and the BMI Podcast, which are also pretty good. Nice band.
