Jenny Lewis & The Watson Twins

So, it's so weird that I went to college with The Watson Twins, I know that sounds like I'm name-dropping or whatever, but really, I never even knew this side existed, at least in Leigh. I mean they were both incredibly artistic and talented, so it's not as if I'm suprised at all. Chandra was in the theatre program at UE and Leigh and I had art classes together, so yeah, not really a suprise, but last I really knew, they packed up a truck and drove out to California to get involved in more of the technical side of showbiz. Leigh is/was designing wardrobe for video shoots and things like that, and then I hear they were recording with Jenny Lewis...wow. So, of course I'm kicking myself for not asking one of them out now...stupid! stupid! So really, I'm just really excited for and proud of them. Leigh and I used to seriously goof off in a printmaking class with some other yahoos...we were not highly motivated in that class, but we had a good time. The class was like 3 hours long, so there was a break in the middle and we'd just sit outside and shoot the shiz, bitching about how long the class was and how it sucked and all that...ahh, memories...now I wish for 3 hour printmaking classes and no responsibility some days.

Anyway, Rabbit Fur Coat will be released at the end of January 2006, so go buy it. I've been checking out some of the tracks and there is definitely a great alt-country feel to them, very Neko Case-ish is a comparison I read, and that's pretty good, but a little poppier. I'll be excited to hear it all when it comes out.
