Tom Thumb & The Latter Day Saints

Tom Thumb's first effort was a solo, mostly acoustic project, but on his new EP, Kindermusik, he brings in The Latter Day Saints to play along and adds a lot more electric guitar. The result is a cleaner, deeper, more mature and less folky sound. It's an enjoyable effort from beginning to end. The harmonizing and blending vocals of Molly Seamons and Tom Thumb on "Preach" is one of my favorites.

Bruce Springsteen sings "Atlantic City" breathlessly, like he's in the midst of something desperate. Tom Thumb breathes the song, like it's a distant, secret memory. The quick strum of Springsteen's acoustic guitar is replaced by sparse piano chords, tremolo guitar and malleted toms. Whereas the original chorus was marked by anguished reverb-drenched vocals, Tom Thumb opts for crescendoing high-hat and cymbal swells instead. - Said The Gramaphone
