New Order & Update...

New Order - Bizarre Love Triangle
New Order - Regret
New Order - Blue Monday
New Order - Touched By The Hand Of God
New Order - Round & Round
New Order - Fine Time

Let's see, what's new? Not a lot of feedback lately from you guys, I miss you...feeling kind of lonley in this big blog world. This weekend is one of my first "free" weekends for a while. I look to enjoy it. I'm sure it will fill up with yard work, house cleaning, and all that mumbo jumbo, but I will find time to relax. The lovely and I were going to see Batman Begins last night, but we went out for some Thai food first...we though Batman was running ever half hour, so we headed over to the theatre after dinner for the 9pm show...we got there about 8:45pm and bought tickets. I went and got me a Coke freeze...I like those things, I can't help it. I like the cherry ones too...pretty much, if it's a frozen beverage I'll enjoy it. Unless it's coffee or that type of drink, that doesn't appeal to me. Anyway, we look at the tickets (MJ bought them) and the show doesn't start until 9:45pm...That's an hour away for you math wizards out there. Well, I'm like, I don't want to sit around for an hour, and MJ didn't want to either, so we traded the tickets back in for vouchers and went home. I'm sure the ticket guys were like, "What a couple of morons." Eh, well. I'd like to see Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Fantastic Four & Lords Of Dogtown too, but really not to the point where I would wait in line or anything.

Playing poker this Friday with the boys and MJ, she's a shark...I have a hard time beating her. She always knows when I'm bluffing, so I don't bluff much with her which makes me have to rely on the cards and if they aren't coming...well, lights out. Send me some good poker vibes...I've built a big chip lead the last few times and then made that one crucial, unrecoverable mistake and haven't been able to rebound. Help keep me away from that mistake tomorrow. I pray to you poker gods...Help me Jeebus!!!

Six Feet Under has been really good. I can't wait for Billy to explode, looks like it's coming. I really can't wait to see how it all wraps up this season. OH! Was that dream David had not the freakiest! Man, I was whigging out on that. Gross....BARF!!!!

Entourage is still one of my favorite shows around...wish it was an hour instead of a half hour.

Lollapolooza is just around the corner...I'm very excited. I think Chris from GvsB is gonna stay with us, so we should have a nuttypants time. Anyone else that wants to hang, drop me a line...I'm looking to fall over on Monday after the show.

Some great shows coming up here in Indy. The Wrens will play The Patio on July 14th. The Midwest Music Summit is here July 21st - 23rd, which is 'Polooza weekend, but luckily MMS starts the Thursday before, so I'll be able to see Robbers On High Street, The Ponys, French Kicks and maybe The Changes, The Dead 60s, Louis XIV and VHS or BETA...not sure about the last three. Communique & Tegan & Sara will be playing The Music Mill on the 23rd, but I'll miss that. Here is the full 3-day schedule...250+ bands...check it out if you're in town.

Well, that's all I got for now...Rockin' the new Arcade Fire today a lot...bought a cowboy hat...I know, random...I think I'll wear it to 'Polooza one day...we'll see.

Oh, Indy kids go see Margot & The Nuclear So So's and Pravada at The Patio this Friday.

Yo -

Totally concur on SFU this season. Actually, absent Season 3 (Lily Taylor = major buzz kill), the entire run has been fantastic and I can even accept parts of S3... Billy's a ticking time bomb... Net rumours have it that somewhere on EOnline is a big series finale spoiler. I ruined Angel by looking at the spoilers; won't do it again! Also, TVGuide had a good article - apparently Eppy 9 is gonna be a biggie.

Nice w/ the NO!

Go see Batman!! Saw it last night. It was really, really good. I've never been to a movie where the audience clapped afterward.

The audience clapped afterward?
Why would you clap for a movie? Unless they were at a premier where the actors and producers are there, they're not going to know you clapped. No one will. It's not a play, it's a movie! Do they clap for a tv show too? Wow! What a great show of Sopranos! clap clap clap.
/Meh, just in a complainy mood.
//I know that's not a word.
///Oh, I also enjoy your website.
////Slash whore.

Dodge,

I am the slightly older guy that bought you and your friend a beer at the Decemberists concert at Headliners. Of course, maybe several people bought you beers. Anyway, I was sorry to read about your brother. It sounds like he had a tough life.

On a happier note...Entourage is a great show--like a modern 30-minute version of Diner or Swingers. Thanks for sharing the music, I've found alot of great bands here. New Order is one I am already familiar with, one of my all time favorites. Keep up the good work, good luck at poker. I won last Friday for only one reason--I got the cards.

i also have been on a roll as of late at the poker table (getting cards, not so much skill-wise), so i pass some of that onto you dodge.

and entourage has been awesome so far this season, i love that show.

Kev...no spoilers! Don't tell me anything! Angel...really? lol. jk.

So was this a hot date Dee? You haven't kept me updated lately.

Slash Whore...that was a weird comment...but thanks. Some people clap...if it makes you happy you know...but i understand your point.

Andy right? Thanks for that again...that was my first blog beer...I've received a few more since, but you were the first and it was great talking to you! I'm praying for good cards and the discipline to wait for the right times to go all in with them!

I apologize for the disappearing act I pulled, I'm back now!!

as far as NO goes. they were truly, positively, absolutely one of my favorite bands of all time. i think i've seen them in concert more than any other band.

2001's "Get Ready" and this year's "Waiting for the Siren's Call" were both huge disappointments. NO just seemed to have lost their relevance and Bernard et all seemed to have lost the ability to write a catchy, clever tune. "Republic" was stellar but showed them trying to stray from their synth-based sound. it worked. their last two albums haven't worked, imho. it's a shame. even side projects like Electronic haven't been very good. i think they should hang up their caps and call it a day and let us have unspoiled memories of just how great they once were.

...And then there's me, who thinks of Get Ready not just as a strong comeback, but as the hands-down best record of New Order's career...

New Order's always welcome! I saw them last month here in Chicago. Good, not great show, but with the most interesting crowd. Ages ranged from little kids to people I'd guess were in their 60s.

SFU's been a tad slow for me so far this season, but it looks like the shit is gonna fly an episode or two from now. So I'll hold on. I'd also recommend The Comeback if you're not already watching. Surprisingly funny/cynical/ chilling.

I used to live in L.A. People often clapped (I assume they still do) for non-premiere movies there. Partly because they often know cast/crew members.

Thank you for posting my most favorite
New Order song of all time, Touched by the hand of God. It was a rare treat since I have had a hard time tracking it down...well...until now. keep granting wishes and having one of the most outstanding blogs on the net.

At 3:18 PM, Blogger S.M.T. spat...

When I was about 16, one of my friends made a mix tape for me and it had two New Order songs on it: "All the Way" and "Regret". I was a fan from that moment on. I wish they would play a show here.

batman good. six feet under excellent. i've heard some rumors on the last episode, and if it's true...it's going to be craaaaazy.

i'd give you some good poker vibes, but my luck and poker has sucked lately. so i'll stay away.
